The 8th Arabic Calligraphy Workshop

A workshop worth sharing to those who might be interested in taking a trip to Amman and master the art of calligraphy.

The worksop will be in two courses; A Comprehensive Course: focusing on studying and practicing the existing and extinct types and styles of Arabic calligraphy. The course is made of 6 sessions; each one is 2 hours long on Saturdays, & Diwani Course: which is an intensive course, made in 6 sessions; each one is 2 hours long on Saturdays, focusing only on the Diwani style.

The main objectives of the workshop is to reflect upon the beauty of Arabic Lettering and to be introduced to the techniques of writing, tools and the materials related to calligraphy. Define of the usages of Arabic Calligraphy as a modern art form and the role of calligraphy in contemporary design.

A briefly look at the development of calligraphy through history, and discuss proposed methods for future development, beside studying and experimenting the existing and extinct types of Arabic calligraphy and explore the main Arabic Calligraphy styles and schools

Notes: Every participant will be provided with all the necessary tools and equipments; Paper, Calligraphy ink, Calligraphy pens (Reeds), Special writing notepads & detailed booklet for each session. Participants will receive a certificate upon the completion of the workshop. A chance to create an individual calligraphic artwork will be given to the participants. There are limited places, please make sure to book early. Reservation to be carried out through email or by phone. Arabic is the main language used in the workshop.

All classes will be held at the Wild Jordan Cafe, Jabal Amman link.
